PRODUCTS FROM THE HIVE
Join us Tuesday evening, September 14th for the CCBA monthly meeting. Randall Austin will present the topic, “Products from the Hive” which is sure to be entertaining and informative!
About the speaker:
Randall Austin is a Master Beekeeper in northern Orange County, NC. He is Education Director for Orange County Beekeepers’ Association and a Piedmont Regional Director for NCSBA. Retired from careers in the pharmaceutical and electric utility industries, Randall enjoys sharing with others about honey bees. He is Headmaster of Orange Beekeepers’ annual Bee School and has traveled to Dominican Republic and west Africa to learn and share there. For the past 8 years he has written a monthly educational article for Hillsborough’s Bailey Bee Supply newsletter, archived here: http://baileybeesupply.com/educational_resources/.
About the topic:
We all know that we keep honey bees because they give us honey. But have you ever tried stir-fried drone pupae? Master Beekeeper Randall Austin will discuss ways that we can properly process, package and label honey… but he will also describe a few of the many other products of the hive that we may not have considered, ranging from wax to live bees for apitherapy to agritourism, as well as pupae on crackers. His talk is designed to both educate and inspire us to take better advantage of the gifts that flow from our hives.
